School-Based Youth Services Program
Established in 2000, the School-Based Youth Services Program, physically situated in Perth Amboy High School, is a well-integrated, centralized ‘hub’ that provides high-risk, teenagers and their families, ages 14 to 19, with a comprehensive and well-structured system of supports and services. From an initial level of service of 700 youth, SBYSP now serves over 1,600 students – this is nearly 80% of the high school’s total enrollment. In addition to a highly defined and structured case assessment and management system with a full menu of direct services, SBYSP also provides mental health counseling and clinical interventions for teens demonstrating initial signs of behavioral disorders.
